F.A.Q.

Common questions pre-answered to help you understand our club and case competitions.

General FAQ

What is a case competition?

In a case competition you are given a case study about an organisation – this could be anything from a small startup to a billion dollar multinational or even a not-for-profit. Your team will need to analyse the company, identify key issues and present your strategy to a panel of judges. You’ll learn analysis, teamwork, presentation skills plus how to work under a tight deadline!

For Students

How do we enter the competition?

Contact your teachers to organise a team. Once you have a team, fill out the registration form here

What if I’ve never done a case competition before?

No worries, we were all at that stage at one point. Check out the other materials in our resources section so that you’ll know what to do.

Does it cost anything?

There are no entry costs, and should your team make the final, flights and accommodation will be provided.

How should we present our proposal?

The team members should present the proposal to the video-recorder. We recommend including a Powerpoint slideshow in the proposal.

How do we submit our registration

Please upload your entry to YouTube using the following naming convention “UoAMCC Schools Comp 2015 – School Name”,  then email contact@schoolscasecompetition.co.nz with the link and your PowerPoint slides.

For Teachers

How do I enter my school’s team?

You can find the entry form here

Does it cost anything?

There are no entry costs, and should your team make the final, flights and accommodation will be provided.

Do I need to provide the students with anything?

Students will not need any extra material to work on the case. However in order to present it, some time in a classroom with access to a projector would be useful.

What is the role of the teacher?

The teacher should act as a facilitator, eg providing the students with a room and projector during lunchtime. Providing feedback is also okay, however the students should be the sole creators of their proposal
